Track of the week
London drums and guitar duo Scrounge have announced their long-awaited debut album, coming 18 April via US label Ba Da Bing!. It’s called Almost Like You Could and opens with new sub-2-minute single ‘Higher’, which points to the band’s modern punk influences (Savages, Priests) whilst leaving plenty on the table for fans of Bleach-era Nirvana, the drums a spraying machine gun, Lucy Alexander’s distorted guitar reaching concrete-slab heaviness by the song’s end, even whilst her vocals traverse 3 distinctive modes within such a short space of time.
